When I was bathing, I heard some loud commotion outside. My bunkmates actually found cockroaches in the room! We had a very scary but fun time looking for the cockroaches and spraying the air refresher on them as we do not have the pesticides. In the end, we managed to kill one small and one medium size cockroaches. I cannot imagine how we slept last night with the cockroaches running around in the room.

At 9.30am we went for the opening ceremony and speech by the WUST’s lecturers in one of the lecture hall. I am very grateful towards the WUST’s lecturers who sacrifices their holiday to plan and coordinate this trip to make it a successful one for us to have a comfortable place to live in and conducive environment to learn new things. It must have been a tedious and time consuming process for them during the planning.

We toured around the school compound and the blocks where our lesson will be conducted at. The weather in Wu Han is warmer and humid than Singapore’s, I was sweating profusely about 10 minutes of walk under the sun. The air in Wu Han is slightly polluted, probably due to the high number of people burning things.

We went to the supermarket to get some necessities such as forks and spoon, mineral water, pesticides, eggs, washing powder and so on. We had cup noodles as our lunch in our room and a short nap after that. At around 3pm, one of the WUST student came to give us the connection for the internet and I was the first one who can receive the internet connection. Fiza and Amirah had some problem with their socket earlier on but Amirah’s resolved so only the both of us can access to the internet. But the internet connection seems so faulty and problematic. At around 8pm onwards, I do not have internet connection anymore, so does Amirah. I was very upset because I was planning to update my blog and webcam with my love ones. I am used to being connected to the internet everyday 24/7, I am rather uncomfortable to such a sudden change. Hopefully this problem will be resolved by tomorrow.

Today my bunkmates and I went to buy the international call card at the price of 5oRMB and free installation. Earlier on, my other OIP classmates bought the similar international call card at an extra cost of 20RMB as the store they patronized charged for the installation fees. I was glad that I am rather strong in my mandarin as I have to translate everything to English because both my bunkmates are Malays.

I am happy that I can adapt to the environment at the moment and I had a very enjoyable day today although it was a free and easy day. I was able to webcam with my boyfriend, msn with my family and friends, and playing card game with my bunkmates. It was a pity that I am unable to webcam with my family and friends due to unstable internet coonection. Having two crazy and fun bunkmates is totally awesome to keep my laughter going on. I miss my family whom i see everday in Singapore!
